ROOTED IN NORTHERN COLORADO
Austin & Austin traces its roots back to 1903, when brothers E. R. and Fred Austin founded the company in Fort Collins. The two had long been residents of Northern Colorado when they started as real estate brokers and auctioneers. E. R. Austin also ran the Fort Collins stables. In 1913 Austin & Austin achieved some renown for auctioning Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, which had gone bankrupt while touring Colorado, in Denver. In 1973, Austin & Austin was hired to sell the Universal Studios memorabilia in Hollywood, including the Maltese Falcon from the Humphrey Bogart movie. For the most part, however, Austin & Austin has been committed to simply serving the individuals and families of Northern Colorado.
A FAMILY OF REALTORS
An Austin family member has been involved with the company since its inception over 100 years ago. E. R. Austin, Jr., after serving in the Pacific in WWII, opened a Greeley office not too long after the war and then moved himself to run it in the early 1950’s. His stepson, Bruce Willard, went to work for the company after his Air Force service in 1987. Bruce’s daughter, Kristin, went to work for the company in 2012 and his other daughter Natalie went to work for the company in 2015. Every other broker at Austin & Austin is a multi-generational Northern Colorado native, with a number having family ties in the local area well back into the 1800’s. The past two and a half decades have seen Austin & Austin continue to grow throughout the region, while still offering Weld and Larimer County residents the same level of knowledge and commitment that have characterized the firm since the year the Wright Brothers took their first flight and Ford became an automobile company.
CONTINUING THE VISION OF REAL ESTATE EXCELLENCE
Today, the agents at Austin & Austin are busy continuing the vision of the company’s founders. They know that, although serving the same region for 115 years doesn’t happen without adjusting according to the needs of a changing market, it also doesn’t happen without preserving the principles of community, professional excellence, and customer service that first made Austin & Austin flourish.
